The kit captures the Soviet aircraft carrier of the Kiev class in 1:550 scale. The model from the Trumpeter brand is designed as a 2 in 1 variant, so it can be built either as Kiev or as her sister ship Minsk. It comes in injection-molded plastic with a stand bearing a nameplate and with a set of shipboard aircraft and helicopters.
The ships of the Kiev class were Soviet aircraft carriers, or rather heavy aviation cruisers, which combined an angled flight deck for operating vertical takeoff aircraft and helicopters with a heavy missile armament in the bow. They served as important vessels of the Soviet Navy, above all for anti-submarine warfare and for the air defense of task forces.
Glue the hull with a thin cement for plastic and go through the instructions before choosing the variant (Kiev or Minsk), because of the differences in markings. Apply a base coat (primer) before painting and spray with an airbrush; the large flight deck is best sprayed evenly, with the aircraft fitted last. You can bring the surface to life with a wash into the recesses. You display the finished model on the stand supplied.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
