A brass tube for building and modifying models. The outside diameter is 10 mm, the wall thickness 0.45 mm and the length 305 mm; the package contains one piece. From these figures the inside bore works out at 9.1 mm, so a thinner piece from the same line with an outside diameter of 9 mm pushes into the tube and telescopic assemblies can be built up this way.
A metal tube replaces plastic parts wherever the wall is meant to be thin and the edge perfectly round: barrels, exhausts, masts, railings, axles and the frames of your own structures. It also comes in useful as reinforcement for a glued joint or as a pin on which a part turns, because metal, unlike plastic, does not give.
Cut the tube with a fine-toothed saw or a tube cutter, never with nippers, which squeeze the end into an oval. Level the edge on a file after cutting and remove the burr from the inside with a tapered stone or a drill turned in your fingers. When bending, fill the tube with sand or push a wire into it, otherwise it will kink at the bend. A joint with plastic holds with super glue or epoxy, and metal to metal can also be joined by soldering. Degrease the surface before painting and apply a primer, as the shade will not otherwise hold on smooth brass.
It will be appreciated by builders who modify their parts and do them their own way, whether on aircraft, hardware, ships or dioramas. Glue, paints and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
