Heki static grass in an olive shade, fiber length 4.5 mm, a 50 g package. The fibers are poured into glue and a static charge stands them on end.
Responsibility details are not available.
The olive shade lies between fresh green and dried-out yellow, so it suits late-summer growth, trodden grass along roads and areas where the grass gets plenty of sun. It is this tone in particular that is rewarding on military dioramas, because it does not shout and does not overpower the finish of the equipment. The fibers are 4.5 mm and the package from the Heki company weighs 50 g.
In the 1:35 kit scale a length of 4.5 mm corresponds to grass just under 16 cm tall, in 1:72 scale to roughly 32 cm and on a model railroad in 1:87 scale to almost 40 cm. For a small scale that is seriously mature growth; on a diorama in 1:35 scale, on the other hand, it is ordinary unmown grass.
First paint the surface a brownish green, so that no pale material shows between the fibers. Then apply scenic glue or thinned PVA glue and pour the fibers into an applicator giving a static charge. Move the applicator slowly and hold the mesh a little way above the area. When the glue has dried, tap the excess back into the bag. You will create tufts of taller grass by adding glue to the finished growth over small patches only and applying a second dose.
The package suits modelers building terrain for vehicles and figures and builders of layouts alike. The fibers are light and blow about easily, so close the bag between doses and work out of a draft. The glue, an applicator and paints for the surface are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
