Street - Asphalt 48 x 24 cm, H0 Scale

What it is

A ready-made road area with an asphalt surface in the 48 x 24 cm format, intended for H0 scale, that is 1:87. At real size the longer side corresponds to roughly forty-two meters of road. A two-lane roadway seven meters wide works out at eight centimeters in this scale, so one sheet will give about three such strips.

Where you will use it

On a road along the track, at a crossing, on the approach road to a station, on the area in front of a building and on a parking lot. A paved area also does the scene good by breaking up a continuous green carpet and giving the eye somewhere to go; a layout made up only of grass and ballast looks empty.

Trimming and fitting

Lay the area on the base, draw round the shape you need and cut it out with a sharp knife against a ruler. Try the arrangement out dry before gluing and check that the roadway joins the surrounding terrain; then dust the edges with pigment or cover them with a fine material, so that the transition does not show. Asphalt is never uniform, so it pays to suggest a darker strip down the middle of the traffic lane, lighter edges, oil stains and patches. Dry pigments and very thin glazes applied in several steps work best for this. Add the road markings last of all, onto a finished and evened-out surface.

The package holds the road area in the stated size. A base, the vehicles, the buildings, the figures, the pigments and the glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
