This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:24 scale from Italeri captures the Lancia LC2 - a Group C sports prototype of the early 1980s. The box contains a decal sheet for the famous Martini Racing liveries from the 1983 world sports prototype championship. It is a so-called kerbside model, that is a kit without a detailed engine, focused on the body, the cockpit and the overall silhouette of the car.
The Lancia LC2 was built to take on the dominant Porsche 956 in the era of the legendary Group C. It was powered by a turbocharged V8 based on Ferrari engineering, prepared by the Abarth division, of around 2.6 liters, later enlarged. The car counted as exceptionally fast and in qualifying it could match its rivals and beat them, but in races reliability often let it down. Even so the LC2 is among the most beautiful and most treasured prototypes of its day.
The iconic Martini livery is built on clean white paint with narrow colored stripes - so start with a good base coat and smooth white paint. The extensive decals call for patience and a decal softener so that they settle onto the curved surfaces of the body; a gloss coat under them helps as well. Finish the cockpit and the glazing before closing the body and add the chrome or resin details at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
