The casting deliberately carries smooth, statuary features so that it looks like a stone sculpture, and it brings a sense of calm and quiet into a scene in the middle of the events of war.
A statue is a rewarding element of contrast: in a ruined town, by a church, on a village green or in a park it gives a scene a story and an emotion. Around it you can easily set out rubble, vegetation or figures and create a strong visual accent for the whole diorama.
Wash the part in lukewarm water with dish soap and free it of the release agent from the mold. Cut the casting block off and sand it down, and glue with cyanoacrylate glue. For the impression of stone use gray and beige shades, bring out the depths with a wash and the edges with a fine dry brush; you can also add a patina of moss and streaking grime. Protect your airways when sanding resin.
