An injection-molded plastic model of the German heavy tank Sd.Kfz.182 King Tiger (Pz.Kpfw. VI Ausf. B Tiger II) in 1:72 scale from Flyhawk. This variant captures the machines with the early Porsche turret and with a layer of Zimmerit (the anti-magnetic paste) rendered directly on the parts. Flyhawk is known for fine surface detail and small parts, so the finished model looks very convincing even in a small scale.
The Tiger II, nicknamed the King Tiger or Königstiger, was the heaviest German tank to see series service in the Second World War. It combined steeply sloped armor with the long 88 mm KwK 43 gun, which could destroy Allied tanks at great range. The first machines built received a rounded turret designed for the Porsche project; only about fifty of these were made before it was replaced by the more angular Henschel turret. Zimmerit was applied to the surface of the armor as protection against magnetic mines.
Glue the plastic with thin modeling cement and separate the small parts carefully. Finish the running gear and the lower hull before they are covered over. The rendered Zimmerit comes out well with a dry brush and shading; lay down a primer before painting and spray thin coats with an airbrush. You can bring late-war German camouflage to life with a wash, filters and dust pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
