BLACK & WHITE COLOR SET – ARTISTIC DENSE ACRYLIC COLOR

The black and white set of Artistic Dense acrylic paints

A set of bottled acrylic paints thinnable with water from the Artistic Dense range by AK interactive. It is not a kit and not a single paint, but a group of shades sold together. This particular set rests on black and white, that is on the extreme points of the scale of lightness. It is precisely that scale that matters more in figure painting than the richness of the shades: until an area has a readable difference between light and shadow, a figure will blend in on a shelf regardless of how pretty its colors are.

Use

• Black and white are used mainly as components in mixing. Pure white as a highlight and pure black as a shadow tend to be too hard on a figure.
• White is suitable for underpainting areas that are to stay rich later, for example under yellow and red shades.
• Black suits a base into which the shadow part of a shade can be drawn, or an undercoat beneath metallic paints.
• You will use the set for zenithal lighting as well, where one works up from a dark base gradually to white.
• Mix the paint before every use, as white shades have a heavy pigment that settles in the bottle.
• Water or acrylic thinner will handle the thinning; for an airbrush the denser paint has to be thinned more considerably.

Who the set is for

For figure painters who are only building a palette and need a base from which the other shades can be shaded off, and for the advanced, who use black and white up the fastest. It also serves well as a complement to the color sets of the same range.

The paints are intended for modeling use. Keep them out of the reach of children, work in a well-ventilated area and close the bottles carefully after use.
