A snap-together model of a self-loading pistol from Academy, from the line designated 4D Color Kit. The plastic parts are molded in color and fit into one another, so you finish the model without glue and without spraying.
A self-loading pistol consists of a frame with a grip, a moving slide with the barrel and a magazine inserted into the grip. After a shot the slide moves back, ejects the case and on its return feeds the next round; it is exactly this sequence that makes the weapon self-loading. The snap-together model shows these assemblies separately, so it is possible to see how they follow one another. The AM50 designation is what the set carries according to the maker. It is a study and collector's object, not a functioning or an airsoft weapon.
Assembly is quick and a beginner will manage it. Anyone who wants a more faithful look can even the surface out with a matte varnish and darken the metal parts with graphite powder or a dark metallic paint. Sand the molding flash off gently and the parts will then fit more precisely. If you want to keep the object dismountable, do not fill the seams. The model shows to advantage on a simple dark base, which brings out the outline.
It is sold as a set of plastic parts to be assembled; it is not a finished product.
