OILBRUSHER RUST, an oil paint with a brush in the cap

OILBRUSHER RUST from AMMO of Mig Jimenez is an oil paint (not an acrylic and not an enamel) in a bottle holding 10 ml. A fine brush is built into the cap, so you apply the paint straight onto the model. It is a model paint, or modeling chemistry, not a kit. The RUST shade is meant for building up rust and corrosion.

Use

• Rust is never a single color. Real corrosion has lighter and darker places, so convincing rust is built by layering several rust tones over each other; this shade is the base layer of such a build-up, onto which darker and lighter tones follow.
• Exhausts and exhaust systems, the classic place where corrosion appears first and most strongly.
• Chipped and damaged paint, meaning edges, walkways, splinter damage and places where the coat has worn through to bare metal.
• Tracks, chains and wrecks: on abandoned and destroyed equipment the rust can be spread across the whole surface.
• The paint dries slowly, so it can be blended for a long time and feathered softly into its surroundings, which makes the rust transitions look natural instead of like a painted patch. It is thinned with odorless thinner or mineral spirits and applied over a cured painted surface.

Who it is for

For modelers of military, civilian and railway subjects, for builders of dioramas with wrecks and for anyone who wants corrosion genuinely layered rather than painted on flat. Work with it is forgiving: as long as the oil has not dried, the rust can be feathered, softened or wiped away.

Safety: the product contains solvents and is flammable. Ensure good ventilation, do not inhale the vapors, protect your skin (gloves) and your airways. Keep out of reach of children and away from open flame. It is not a kit but a model paint.
