A transparent red from the Green Stuff World ink range. Over chrome it gives a candy paint, and on figures it serves to warm the shadows of skin.

Car modelers know this principle well: a candy paint comes about when a transparent colored coat is laid over a shiny metal base. Light passes through it, bounces off the metal and comes back out colored again. The depth that results cannot be copied with an ordinary covering red.
Bodywork and tanks: a silver or chrome base has to be really smooth, because a transparent coat hides no unevenness and in fact brings it out. Lay it on with an airbrush in several light passes and let the surface flash off between them. An uneven coat shows at once as patches in the paint.
Vehicle lights: tail lamps and reflectors are tinted from the inside of the clear part. The outside then keeps a shiny surface that reflects light like real glass.
On figures: a very thinned coat warms the shadows of skin, brings out the lips, the nose and the knuckles and gives a face a life that skin shades alone do not have. Use it sparingly, or the figure looks sunburnt.
Other uses: mixed with a gloss varnish it makes a medium suited to fresh wounds and traces of blood, and with a pinch of brown it becomes clotted blood. It also serves as a warm transition in rusted areas or as a colored cast in a fire effect.
Stained glass: on a clear sheet it makes a field of color suggesting a church window, especially when you copy the lead bars with a thin black decal. The glass of a lantern or a signal lamp can be tinted in the same way.
Durability: a glaze on its own is not resistant to rubbing, so protect it on exposed edges with a top coat.
