Clear Prop Models 1:144 Ki-51 Sonia is a plastic model of the Japanese light attack and reconnaissance aircraft of the Second World War in the small 1:144 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic model of the Japanese army aircraft Mitsubishi Ki-51 from Clear Prop Models in 1:144 scale. The Sonia - as the Allied reporting name for the type ran - is a quick build in this small scale and undemanding on space, while modern tooling offers surprisingly fine detail for its size.
The Mitsubishi Ki-51 was a single-engine, two-seat light attack and reconnaissance aircraft of the Japanese army. It was notable for fixed landing gear in aerodynamic fairings and for its ability to operate from short field airstrips close to the front. It was deployed from the fighting in China through Southeast Asia to the Pacific; although it grew obsolete over the course of the war, it served until the end of it, in the final phase sadly also in suicide attacks.
In 1:144 scale care is what decides - separate the small parts with a sharp knife and handle them with tweezers. Bond them with a minimal amount of thin cement, so that the joints do not flood the detail. Spray the camouflage with an airbrush in thin coats; the typical Japanese mottled scheme can be suggested in this scale by fine stippling with a sponge or a fine nozzle. Settle the decals on a gloss base and varnish over them.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
