1:35 Polish Army - KTO ROSOMAK turetless version for IBG

KTO Rosomak, turretless version, 1:35 scale (Toro Model)

This is not a complete model but a resin conversion set. It holds the parts that rebuild a 1:35 plastic kit of the Rosomak wheeled carrier into the version without a turret. The set is therefore meant for a modeler who already has the base kit or obtains it separately. Given the material and the need to work on the plastic parts, it is a job for more experienced modelers. The set is intended for the IBG kit.

The real subject

The KTO Rosomak is a Polish wheeled armored personnel carrier with 8x8 all-wheel drive, built in Poland under license from the Finnish Patria AMV. It serves as an infantry carrier and as the chassis for a whole range of specialized versions. The turretless vehicles represent exactly that branch of the family: in place of a turret with a weapon system they carry a different superstructure or working compartment and are used in support and specialized roles. The silhouette changes markedly as a result, which from a modeling point of view is the main reason the conversion gets built.

Building and painting tips

First wash the resin parts in warm soapy water to remove the mold release residue from the surface, otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a razor saw or a knife; never break them off. Sand with respiratory protection, ideally wet, so that the dust does not fly around. Resin is not bonded by plastic model cement, so use cyanoacrylate glue, with an accelerator on larger surfaces. A primer is needed before spraying to unify the plastic and the resin; only then come the top color, a matte varnish and the weathering.

Who the set is for

• Modelers with experience of resin conversions.
• Collectors of current Polish equipment in 1:35 scale.
• Diorama builders, where a non-combat version of the carrier comes in useful too.

The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted and is not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
