Main wheels for the Curtiss P-40 in 1:48 scale with a flattened tire. A RESArm accessory that replaces the round wheels from a plastic kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Replacement wheels for models of the American Curtiss P-40 fighter in 1:48 scale. The bottom of the tire is flattened out, the way rubber looks under the weight of a parked machine. The swap concerns the main landing gear and is done in a single evening, with no filling needed.
The Curtiss P-40 was an American single-engined fighter flown by British, Soviet and Chinese crews besides American units. The machines often operated from field strips, so their wheels appear noticeably dusty and weighted in period photographs. Service in the desert and in the tropics gives modelers wide scope for weathering.
Cut the wheel from the box away and level the remains of the pin. Slide the new part on dry, line up the position of the contact patch and only then secure the joint. For painting use a dark gray instead of black, a circular mask on the hub and at the end a light touch of dust to match the chosen theater. Dry pigment can be fine-tuned at any time. Dose the super glue sparingly so that it does not creep onto the surface of the rubber.
It is bought for a kit you already own; paints, varnish and glue have to be added.
