A crystal-clear vacuum-formed (vacuform) canopy from the Czech manufacturer Rob Taurus, intended to replace the injection-molded part from the kit for models of the Supermarine Seafire Mk.47 carrier fighter in 1:48 scale. This is not an aircraft model, but a modeling accessory that brings out the clarity and the scale look of the glazing.
A vacuum-formed part has thinner and cleaner walls than the plastic canopies from kits, so it lets more light through and matches the scale more faithfully. The teardrop canopy of the Seafire with its good view therefore stands out far better than with a thick-walled standard part.
Cut the canopy out carefully around the edge, sand the edges and try the fit on the fuselage dry. It is bonded with clear PVA glue or with spots of super glue, so that the surfaces do not fog. Dipping it in a modeling polish increases the clarity. Mask the frames carefully before painting.
This is a clear replacement canopy, not a complete kit. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
