What is in the package

Two boards with the subject of a fortification wall, each measuring 28 x 14 cm, intended for H0 and TT scales, that is 1:87 and 1:120. The longer side corresponds in H0 scale to roughly twenty-four meters of a real wall and in TT scale to roughly thirty-three. The relief is finished, so the board only has to be trimmed to the shape you need and set in place.

Where a fortification wall belongs

Massive masonry with large blocks suits old town walls, the foot of a tower, gateways and fortified sites, but also everywhere a building is meant to look older and heavier than the houses around it. It serves well too as the base course of an embankment, as the facing of the supporting structure of a bridge or as the enclosure of a yard with nowhere else to give way. A wall also forms a horizontal line in a scene for the eye to lean on, so that a view broken up in height holds together better.

Cutting and fitting

Lay the board on the place, draw round the height and the length you need and trim it with a sharp knife against a ruler. A wall four meters high works out at just under five centimeters in H0 scale, so one board will give you several strips. Run the vertical joints where a pillar, a post, a tree or the corner of a building will cover them. Corners are solved by chamfering the edge from the back, so that the board can be bent without a break on the face.

Painting

Even the surface out with a thin glaze, darken the joints with a wash and run a dry brush over the edges of the blocks. At the foot of the wall suggest a deposit of soil and self-sown growth, and at the top let lighter lime streaks run down.

The package holds two boards of the stated size. A base, the terrain materials, the buildings, the paints and the glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
