The eighty-ton railway flatcar of the SSyms type in 1:35 scale from T-Model. No vehicle for the deck is enclosed.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit from T-Model captures the German heavy railway flatcar of the SSyms type with a capacity of eighty tons. The box contains the flatcar itself; the combat vehicle that would stand on it is not included and is obtained separately. This is a later boxing of the same mold, and the manufacturer states for it a version matching the early form of the flatcar.
During the Second World War the German railways needed cars that would carry the heaviest tracked vehicles. The four-axle flatcars of the SSyms series were the answer: a low-set load deck, robust running gear and a capacity that sufficed even for the heaviest tanks of the day. Photographs of rail transports are among the most frequently worked subjects, because a flatcar gives a vehicle model a natural base and at the same time tells how the vehicles got to the front at all.
Finish and paint the running gear and the brake equipment before you fit the load deck on top; afterward they are hard to reach. The wooden boards of the floor stand out when you undercoat them in several shades of brown and go over them with a drybrush. The metal parts will take plenty of rust and wear, so apply pigments mainly toward the edges and into the corners. Join the plastic parts with thin cement, which draws itself into the seam.
The flatcar is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue and paints are not enclosed, unless stated otherwise.
