About product

Royal Model 1:35 Tiger II Tools and Holders - WWII (a detail set, 1:35)

This detail set from the Italian maker Royal Model brings resin tools and fine etched brackets (holders) for a model of the German Tiger II heavy tank in 1:35 scale. The cast tools and the thin metal clamps replace the simplified plastic parts and give the hull and the superstructure a faithful look with mounting of the equipment that looks like it works. It is an accessory, not a tank model.

The real subject

The Tiger II, also known as the Königstiger, was a German heavy tank of the end of the Second World War with massive armor and a gun of 8.8 cm caliber. On the sides and at the rear it carried stowed engineer tools, including shovels, pickaxes, pry bars and a pipe wrench, fixed by metal clamps, whose faithful rendering is among the detail that is appreciated on a model.

Building and painting tips

Wash the resin tools clean of mold release agent and cut off the casting blocks, and bend the fine etched clamps over the edge of a ruler. Glue everything with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a primer before painting; set the metal parts of the tools apart from the wooden handles, and bring the detail out with a wash and with scuffing.

Who the set is for

  • for modelers building the Tiger II in 1:35 scale
  • for those interested in a faithful stowage of engineer tools
  • for builders of competition models and dioramas

This is an additional detail set, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
