An injection-molded plastic kit of the Chinese two-seat supersonic trainer Shenyang FT-6 in 1:48 scale from Trumpeter. The model captures the lengthened fuselage with the tandem two-seat cockpit, finely engraved panel lines and clear parts for both canopies. Check the exact package contents against the enclosed instructions.
The FT-6 is the two-seat training version of the Chinese Shenyang J-6 fighter, which was a licensed and further developed counterpart of the Soviet MiG-19. It was created to prepare pilots for flying a supersonic twin-engine fighter: the fuselage was lengthened for a second seat for the instructor, while the aircraft kept the performance and the basic character of its combat parent. The FT-6 served with the People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) and with a number of foreign users.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and the fine and clear parts with cyanoacrylate. Paint both cockpits and the instrument panels before you close the fuselage. The clear canopies can be protected with a mask during spraying and built open. A primer and airbrush painting are recommended; natural metal surfaces come out well with metallic paints and the panel lines with a fine wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
