An injection-molded plastic kit of the American Saturn V space launch vehicle of the Apollo 11 mission in 1:96 scale from the Revell brand. It is a sizable model that even as a reduction reaches a height of over one meter, so it faithfully conveys the monumentality of the real rocket. Besides the rocket itself, the package also contains parts of the launch tower and elements of the lower section with the engines. The kit is among the more demanding projects intended for more experienced modelers.
Saturn V was the American three-stage launch vehicle that on July 16, 1969 sent the crew of the Apollo 11 mission on their way to the Moon. It was the most powerful launch vehicle put into series service to date: it measured around 110 meters, weighed over 3000 tons and was the only one to carry people to the surface of the Moon. This rocket remains an icon of spaceflight and a symbol of the first human landing on the Moon.
Glue the plastic parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic, and fill and sand the long joints of the rocket body carefully so that the seams disappear. The characteristic black and white layout of the surfaces is best applied with an airbrush, divided with masking tape for sharp transitions. Given the height of the model, a solid base or stand is advisable, as is assembly in main sections. A primer under the white will help both coverage and paint adhesion.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
