12 Yellow

Revell Email Color 12 Yellow — Gloss Yellow

Shade number 12 from the Email Color range by Revell is a solvent-based synthetic enamel paint (not an acrylic) in a gloss finish, matching shade RAL 1018. The package volume is 14 ml. It is a modeling paint, not a kit — it is not a model or a set of parts. The paint does not attack plastic and leaves a smooth, durable surface once dry. It is thinned with Revell Color Mix or mineral spirits, not water, and dries more slowly than acrylic, which is exactly why it self-levels so nicely.

Important about yellow: yellow pigment generally has weak covering power. Applied directly onto dark plastic or a dark base, it looks dirty and translucent even after several coats. The solution is simple: start with a light, ideally white, base (white primer or white paint). Over it, the yellow becomes fully saturated and you need far fewer coats.

Use

• Warning and caution markings — stripes, hazard markings, lifting points, warning areas on vehicles.
• Aircraft identification bands and supplementary recognition markings on wings and fuselages.
• Racing liveries — circuit racers and rally cars, where yellow is a team's base color.
• Civilian and utility vehicles — construction machinery, cranes, service and airport vehicles, agricultural machines.
• Mixing — a base for making orange and green tones (signal shades are not mixed).

Who it is for

For modelers of aircraft, cars and civilian vehicles who need a rich yellow with the durability of enamel. It is applied with a brush or an airbrush. When spraying, thin it and go in thin coats over a white base; when brush-painting, let the first coat dry completely before adding a second, or you will lift the still-soft film underneath.

Caution: a flammable solvent-based liquid. Fumes irritate the airways — use in a well-ventilated area, away from open flames. When spraying with an airbrush, wear respiratory protection. Keep out of the reach of children.
