314 Beige

Revell Email Color 314 Beige — synthetic enamel paint, 14 ml

Shade 314 is a calm, slightly yellowed beige matching the RAL 1001 standard. It belongs to the Revell Email Color line, which are synthetic enamel (solvent-based) paints — not acrylics. Once dry they form a durable film that takes dry and wet weathering well and does not attack plastic. The bottle holds 14 ml and the level of sheen is satin, which suits internal surfaces especially, where a full gloss would look unnatural.

Use

• Interiors — aircraft cockpits, vehicle interiors, upholstery, instrument panels, onboard equipment.
• Equipment and gear of figures: packs, straps, canvas, tent sections, crates and boxes.
• Desert and camouflage schemes — beige as a base tone or as part of sand camouflage.
• Wood — a light plank, decking, crates; as a base under glazes and washes.
• A base under flesh tones and light civilian car bodies.

Working and thinning

It is applied with a brush and an airbrush; for spraying it is thinned with Revell Color Mix, or with mineral spirits, which also clean brushes and the nozzle. Mix the paint thoroughly before use — the pigment settles at the bottom. Beige has decent covering power, but it still pays to work in two thinner coats. The dry satin surface is ideal for washes and dry brushing, which pick out edges and details in interiors.
