66 Olive grey

Revell Email Color 66 Olive Grey — matte enamel paint 14 ml

Revell 66 Olive Grey is a synthetic enamel (solvent-based) paint from the Revell Email Color range in a 14 ml bottle, with a matte degree of sheen. According to the manufacturer the shade corresponds to RAL 7010 — a gray with an olive, slightly greenish cast. It is a modeling paint, not a kit.

Use

• Military vehicles — vehicles, armored vehicles, tractors, trailers and equipment, wherever a muted gray-green is needed.
• Camouflage schemes — as one of the bands or blotches alongside green, brown and black.
• Accessories and equipment: tarpaulins, covers, crates, jerrycans, packs, carriers — an olive gray looks naturally worn here.
• Muted areas of vehicles where a pure green would be too raw; it also suits graying and dusting down other shades.
• A base under pigments and drybrushing on a diorama.

Thinning and application

It is not an acrylic — it is not thinned with water. Use Revell Color Mix or a thinner for enamels (mineral spirits). The paint can be applied with a brush and with an airbrush; always stir it thoroughly before work, as with matte enamels the pigment settles quickly. Choose several thin coats — they keep the matte, non-reflective surface you want on military vehicles.

Tip: a matte finish is the right final look, but decals silver on matte. So apply a gloss clear coat under the decals, put the decal onto it and finish the model with a matte varnish. Only then do washes, filters and dust pigments come into play.

Who the paint is for

For modelers of military vehicles, figures and dioramas who need a muted olive gray shade. Suitable for brush and airbrush, for beginners and experienced builders alike.

Safety: flammable. The fumes irritate the respiratory tract. Work in a well-ventilated room and use respiratory protection when spraying. Keep out of the reach of children and away from sources of ignition.
