78 Tank grey

Revell Email Color 78 Tank Grey — tank gray, matte, 14 ml

Shade number 78 from the Revell Email Color range. It is a modeling paint, not a kit — the package holds a single bottle of paint containing 14 ml. Email Color is a synthetic solvent-based enamel paint, so not an acrylic: it does not attack the surface of plastic, covers well and once dry it forms a durable film. The gloss level is matte and the shade matches the standard RAL 7024. It is thinned with Revell Color Mix or mineral spirits — never with water.

Use

• German military vehicles of the Second World War — the dark gray finish (Panzergrau, Dunkelgrau) carried by German tanks, assault guns and armored vehicles until roughly 1943, when dark yellow took over as the base color.
• Artillery, half-tracks, tractors and other ground vehicles of the same period.
• Dark gray landing gear, interiors, wheels and small accessories on aircraft and civilian vehicles.
• A base for weathering: washes, dry brushing and dust pigments all sit well on matte gray.
• It goes on with a brush as well as an airbrush; the paint has to be stirred thoroughly before use, because the pigment settles at the bottom.

Who the paint is for

For modelers who build German ground vehicles of the early part of the war and for anyone who needs a reliable dark gray in a matte finish. The shades of this range mix with one another, so you can easily mix your own variants of gray from the paint for modulating or lightening large areas.

The paint is a flammable liquid. The vapors irritate the airways — work in a well-ventilated room and use respiratory protection when spraying. Protect it from open flame, keep out of the reach of children and always follow the instructions on the packaging.
