89 Beige

Revell Email Color 89 Beige (14 ml, flat)

Revell 89 Beige is a synthetic enamel paint on a solvent base in a tinlet of 14 ml. The shade matches RAL 1019 and has a flat finish. It is not an acrylic and it cannot be thinned with water: use Revell Color Mix, or mineral spirits. The paint does not attack the surface of modeling plastic and goes on with a brush as well as with an airbrush. Note: this is a modeling paint, not a kit.

Use

• Desert camouflage: the light base area on vehicles and aircraft in dry regions.
• Interiors: cockpits, cargo beds, bulkheads and light surfaces inside models, where the tone should be warm but not white.
• Gear: canvas straps, bags, tarpaulins, covers and sacks on a diorama.
• Base under flesh tones: an undertone for figure flesh shades that is then tuned warmer or cooler.
• Light wood and sand: raw untreated wood, planks and crates; sand and dry soil on dioramas.

How to tell it from the brown shades

While 85 Brown, 86 Olive brown and 87 Earth brown are dark and serve for objects, military vehicles and grime, 89 Beige is light and goes exactly where you need to brighten: desert camouflage, interiors, textiles, sand. It is also a natural mixing partner for the browns, because adding beige to a dark brown gives you the lightened shades for drybrushing.

Application tips

Stir the paint thoroughly. Light shades cover less well, so count on two or three thin coats instead of one heavy one and use a light undercoat; on dark plastic the coverage will always be worse. Thin it with Revell Color Mix for the airbrush. Earth tones are the foundation of weathering, so combine the beige with a wash and drybrushing and never stop at a flat coat. Clean brushes with enamel cleaner, not with water.

For modelers of military vehicles with desert schemes, for figure painters and for diorama builders who need a dependable light beige in enamel.

Safety: flammable liquid. It irritates the airways, so work in a well ventilated space and use respiratory protection when spraying. Keep out of the reach of children and away from sources of ignition. This is not a product for small children.
