A build-it-yourself model of a clock mechanism from the South Korean brand Academy, inspired by the drawings of Leonardo da Vinci. The parts snap together, so no glue, paints or tools are needed to build it. It is not a model of a vehicle but a mechanical kit that doubles as a teaching aid.
The three letters refer to the three principles the movement demonstrates: the gear train, the escapement and the rotating mounting of the balance known as a tourbillon. The escapement regulates how the driving train unwinds and passes the energy on, while the rotating mounting suppresses the effect of gravity on the accuracy of the running. Once assembled the mechanism really works, so it can be used to show clearly how the measurement of time functions.
Follow the enclosed instructions and push each part in squarely, so that the gear teeth are not damaged. It is worth cleaning the flash off the gears before joining them and checking whether they turn freely. The kit suits older builders and children under supervision, as it contains small parts. You do not have to paint it, but picking some parts out in a metallic shade will help the overall impression.
The product is supplied as a kit to be assembled by the buyer.
