GRASS FLOCK 2MM EARLY FALL

Static grass 2 mm, an early autumn shade

A loose grass material by AK interactive. According to the name, the fiber length of 2 millimeters makes it low grass, that is, a mown lawn, a beaten path or a verge, not wild growth. In color it is early autumn, when the green is only beginning to shift toward yellow and beige, so the shade sits well with summer and autumn vegetation alike in the same scene. The material is not tied to one scale: the short fiber suits smaller scales and serves as a supplementary layer in large ones.

Use

• apply a continuous layer of PVA glue or static grass adhesive to the surface
• apply the fibers with a static grass applicator, which stands them upright electrostatically
• without an applicator, just sprinkle the grass on and press it down; the result will be flatter, but for verges and beaten ground that is enough
• once dry, vacuum or shake off the excess, which can be reused
• bring the area to life by mixing in another shade, as a single-color lawn looks artificial

Airbrush: strip the airbrush down after scenery work

Diorama work is the hardest duty an airbrush ever sees: fine fibers, dust from the scatter materials and thicker toning paints settle in places an ordinary flush cannot reach. When the scene is finished, therefore, do not just flush the airbrush but strip it down. Pull the needle out and wipe it with cleaner along its whole length, take off the nozzle and its cap, check the tip against the light and clean the color cup under the seal as well. Dried paint on the needle is the most common reason an airbrush sprays unevenly or spits at the next session. And never try to push the needle forward through the nozzle, as the tip will bend.

The material is loose and very light, so keep it out of the reach of small children and work over a surface from which the excess can be returned to the package.
