A photo-etched metal set in 1:48 scale for detailing a model of the German Sd.Kfz. 138/2 Jagdpanzer 38(t) tank destroyer, known by the nickname Hetzer. Thin etched sheet replaces the areas that injection-molded plastic cannot render at scale thickness, above all sheet-metal covers, tool brackets and clamps, grilles and small details on the hull and superstructure. Thanks to its compactness the vehicle has clean surfaces on which fine etching comes into its own. It is not a kit but an accessory for a model that you buy separately.
The Jagdpanzer 38(t) was a light tank destroyer built on the proven chassis of the Pz.Kpfw. 38(t) tank and armed with a 75 mm anti-tank gun in a low, steeply sloped superstructure. Series production ran from 1944 in Czechoslovak works and several thousand were built, which made it one of the most numerous German tank destroyers of the final phase of the war. Its low silhouette and good frontal protection were valued, while the cramped fighting compartment and the limited traverse of the gun were criticized.
Separate the photo-etched parts with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, not with nippers, which deform the sheet. Make the bends in a bending tool or between two razor blades, and on longer edges work slowly and evenly. Degrease the brass before gluing and bond it with super glue; on stressed joints micro-soldering also helps. Apply a primer intended for metal before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold on the etched parts and will flake off during handling. The set is intended for more advanced modelers who already have experience with photo-etched parts.
This is a detail accessory for your own model, not a complete vehicle kit. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
