An injection-molded plastic kit of the legendary landing craft in 1:72 scale from the French manufacturer Heller. The package contains plastic parts, three crew figures, beach obstacles and a bow ramp operated by thread, which can be lowered and raised. It is a kit of low to medium difficulty, suitable also for diorama scenes of a landing.
The LCVP, nicknamed the Higgins boat after its designer Andrew Higgins, was a small landing craft able to carry a group of soldiers or a light vehicle straight onto the beach. The hinged bow ramp allowed a quick landing. These craft played a key role in the amphibious operations of the Second World War, above all at the Normandy landings.
Assemble the ramp so that it stays movable, and test the thread mechanism before painting. Spray the hull and the interior with an airbrush and finish the crew figures with a brush. Bring the beach obstacles and the bottom of the hull to life with washes and pigments for the effect of sand, water and rust. The model comes into its own in a diorama with a water surface.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
