Loose static grass for building grassy areas. A fiber length of two millimeters matches low, mown or dried growth, and the shade is drawn from the colors of autumn fields. It is not a finished grass tuft or foliage on a backing, but a material that is applied to the surface with glue and forms continuous growth once dry.
Coat the area with PVA or scenic glue, sprinkle on the fibers and, once dry, tap off or vacuum up the excess. The best result comes from a static grass applicator, which stands the fibers up electrostatically so that the growth does not look flattened. Apply two or three layers and mix the shades together, because a single uniform shade looks artificial. Fix the finished growth with glue thinned with water and a drop of dish soap, which flows better, and you can refine it with pigments or a very light spray of paint from a greater distance. The shorter fiber is also useful for covering the transition between the soil texture and taller grass.
For builders of dioramas and vignettes, for model railroads and for simple bases under a model. The short fiber is rewarding for beginners too, because it forgives uneven application and combines well with the longer lengths in the same range.
