1:48 Il-2 mod. 1943 TFace is a set of self-adhesive Eduard masking templates for the glazing of a model of the Il-2 attack aircraft in 1:48 scale. The TFace designation means masks prepared for the outer as well as the inner side of the clear parts.

A set of self-adhesive templates for spraying the cockpit frames and the rest of the glazing of a model of the Il-2 mod. 1943 attack aircraft in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit nor photo-etched parts but a modeling aid: the templates are stuck onto the clear areas, those stay clean and the paint covers only the frames. Eduard is a Czech manufacturer from Obrnice, and masks, together with photo-etched sets, are among its main ranges. The TFace designation sets this set apart from ordinary masks in that it deals with both sides of the glazing.
The masks are used exclusively on the clear parts, that is the pilot's canopy and the glazing of the rear station, and possibly further windows and light covers according to the particular kit. The inner part of the set comes in useful where the cockpit frame is visible from the inside as well and is to carry the interior shade, not the exterior camouflage. That is precisely what sets the double-sided masks apart from the simpler sets for the same aircraft, of which Eduard makes several; when choosing, go by the extent of the set, not by the name alone.
Wash the grease off the clear parts before masking and let them dry completely. Press the templates down with a toothpick or the blunt tip of tweezers, so that they sit tight all the way round, otherwise the paint will creep underneath. Spray in thin layers, usually the interior shade first, then a base coat once it has dried, and the exterior camouflage last. Take the masks off while the paint is still only touch-dry, pulling at a sharp angle to the surface. Remains of adhesive will come off with mild mineral spirits, not with an aggressive thinner.
The set is an accessory for a plastic model. The model itself, paints and glue are not included in the package.
