A resin detail set in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Aires. It is not an aircraft kit but an accurate replacement for the ejection seat in the cockpit of a plastic model of the Swedish SAAB J 29 Tunnan fighter. The finely cast seat captures the shape, the reinforcements and the details that plastic parts from the box usually only suggest, and it lifts the look of an open cockpit considerably.
The SAAB J 29, nicknamed Tunnan for its barrel-shaped fuselage, was a Swedish jet fighter of the first postwar generation. As a modern combat aircraft it was fitted with an ejection seat, which allowed the pilot to leave the machine in an emergency. The seat is one of the features that draws the most attention on a model with an open canopy.
Wash the resin seat to remove any mold release residue, cut the casting block off carefully and fit it into the cockpit; bond it with super glue (cyanoacrylate). When sanding resin, protect your airways. Prime the seat, paint it separately and pick it out with a wash in the recesses and a dry brush on the edges; set the belts and the padding apart in color for a true-to-life result.
