A plastic kit of the Soviet high-altitude fighter Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-3 in the early version, 1:48 scale, made by Trumpeter.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:48 scale from Trumpeter captures the Soviet fighter Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-3 in its early production version. The package holds plastic parts, clear parts for the glazing (a multi-part canopy) and decals for several Soviet (VVS) schemes. The model has a finely engraved structure of panel lines and rivets and a well worked out cockpit.
The MiG-3 was a Soviet high-altitude fighter of the early Second World War powered by the twelve-cylinder Mikulin AM-35A engine. It excelled at great heights, where it was fast, but at low levels it was less agile and its armament was relatively weak. Even so it took part in large numbers in the defensive fighting of 1941, among other things in the interceptor and reconnaissance roles; a number of later aces flew it, for example A. I. Pokryshkin.
Finish and paint the cockpit and the landing gear bays before you close the fuselage; the multi-part canopy can be glued in the open position for a view into the cockpit. Use liquid modeling cement on the plastic and glue the clear parts with canopy glue. Apply a primer before the airbrush. The Soviet schemes (summer as well as winter white) come into their own with the panel lines accentuated by a wash and with restrained weathering of the exhaust stains.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
