A set of pre-cut self-adhesive masks in 1:72 scale meant for masking the glazing of a model of the Fairchild C-123 Provider transport aircraft. It is not a kit but an accessory. The cockpit and the side windows of a transport aircraft have many frames and cutting masking tape by hand is the most time-consuming part of the whole build here. A pre-cut mask shortens that work to a few minutes and the frames come out even. The masks are die-cut to the shape of the Roden kit.
The C-123 Provider was a twin-engined tactical transport aircraft with a high-mounted wing and a rear cargo ramp. It came from the conversion of a design originally drawn up as a cargo glider and was powered by air-cooled radial engines; some later modifications added auxiliary jet propulsion under the wing. Its sturdy landing gear allowed operation from short unpaved strips, which was its main strength.
First wash and degrease the glazing, but do not use alcohol on clear plastic, which is prone to crazing. Transfer the masks with tweezers and work the edges in thoroughly with a toothpick so that paint does not creep under them. Spray the interior shade of the frames first, then the base color and the camouflage last. Take the mask off once the paint has set. Wipe any adhesive residue away with a soft cloth moistened in soapy water.
The masks are an accessory to a plastic kit, which is not included in the package. Paints and glue are not supplied. The set is cut for one particular kit in this scale, so check the match with your own kit before you order.
