An injection-molded plastic kit of the American F-14D Super Tomcat carrier fighter in 1:72 scale from Revell. The kit offers a detailed cockpit, movable variable-sweep wings, a well-worked landing gear and a generous selection of external stores. It is a classic injection-molded model that calls for ordinary modeling skills. Check the exact number of parts and marking options on the packaging of the particular item.
For decades the Grumman F-14 Tomcat was the backbone of the carrier defense of the US Navy. The two-seat fighter with variable-sweep wings took off from aircraft carriers and was famous for its ability to carry long-range guided missiles. The final F-14D Super Tomcat version received more powerful engines and modernized avionics and remained in service until the middle of the first decade of the twenty-first century. Its characteristic silhouette with folding wings is among the icons of the Cold War and of the years that followed.
Cut the parts from the sprues and glue them with liquid modeling cement for plastic. Paint the interior of both cockpits and the instrument panels before you close up the fuselage, and mask the clear canopy when spraying. Apply a primer, spray the colors with an airbrush, place the decals over a gloss coat and bring out the panel lines with a wash. Leave the wing mechanism movable while gluing if you want to keep the option of repositioning it.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
