Focke-Wulf TL-Jäger Flitzer 1:72 (Revell)

An injection-molded plastic model of the German jet fighter Focke-Wulf TL-Jäger Flitzer in 1:72 scale from the Revell brand. The abbreviation TL-Jäger (Turbinen-Luftstrahl-Jäger) denotes a jet fighter. Note: it is not a series-produced aircraft. The Flitzer was a project and experimental machine of the end of the Second World War that remained at the design stage and was never put into series production. The model therefore depicts the project form of the aircraft according to the surviving design documentation.

The real subject

The Flitzer was among the projects for advanced jet fighters that arose in the Focke-Wulf design office at the close of the war. The aim was to overcome some of the limitations of the machines of the day and to exploit jet propulsion. Development never left the drawing board, though, as the aircraft was neither built nor deployed. It therefore belongs among the so-called paper projects, designs that survive only on paper and in the form of studies.

Building and painting tips

Glue the plastic parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic, and fill and sand the seams. Apply a primer before painting and lay the paints down with an airbrush in thin coats. Because it is a project machine, modelers have a certain freedom in choosing the finish and markings; hypothetical schemes in the spirit of late German camouflage are often used. Finish the cockpit and the landing gear before closing the fuselage.
