Shade 39 Dark Green is a saturated dark green from the Revell Email Color range. It is a synthetic enamel (solvent-based) paint and not an acrylic, so it is thinned with Revell Color Mix or with mineral spirits, not with water. The package holds 14 ml and the paint has a matte degree of sheen, which is the right choice for military equipment: a matte surface does not reflect light and does not distort the shapes of a model. In conversion tables this shade is usually given as the counterpart of the dark green tone of German aircraft camouflage (RLM 71). This is a model paint, not a kit.
Stir the paint all the way to the bottom before use, because the pigment settles. For an airbrush, thin it with Color Mix and spray in thin coats, because dark shades easily fill fine engraved detail. On vehicles the transitions between camouflage fields are often soft; with an airbrush you spray them at low pressure without masking, and with a brush it is enough to blend the edges gently.
A dark green on its own often looks dead and flat on a model. Bring it to life by brightening the centers of large areas (add a little lighter green or yellow) and then with a darker wash into the panel lines and corners. On vehicles, add dust and mud to the lower areas.
Safety: a flammable liquid, and the vapors irritate the airways. Work in a well ventilated space and use respiratory protection when spraying. Keep out of the reach of children and away from sources of ignition.
