The package contains two pieces of the resin Mk.82 bomb in the AIR configuration, that is with the air inflatable retarder designated BSU-49B, in 1:32 scale. It is an accessory to an aircraft model, not an airplane kit. Beyond the number of pieces, the contents of the package are not stated here.
The Mk.82 is the basic low weight class bomb used in many configurations. The AIR version is recognized by the cylindrical body at the tail: it holds a folded retarding element that deploys after release and slows the bomb so that the carrier has time to get clear. On a model the Mk.82 AIR therefore differs from the ordinary version precisely at the tail, where instead of classic fins there is a characteristic large smooth cylinder. The set is cast in the closed, that is undeployed, state, as the bomb looks while hanging on the aircraft.
The transition between the body of the bomb and the retarder section is the most delicate spot on the casting: there is a sharp edge there that sanding can easily round off. Sand carefully, therefore, and strictly wet: wet paper does not take material off so fast and above all it raises no dust. Resin dust is not to be breathed in, and the bench should be wiped with a damp cloth afterward. Use cyanoacrylate glue sparingly and be careful with the accelerator, because sprayed excess turns white on a smooth cylinder and a white film can only be removed from a fine surface by sanding, that is at the cost of detail. Wash both bombs in soapy water before painting. Spraying works best with the bombs on wires: push the wires into the holes left by the casting blocks and stick them into modeling putty so that both dry upright and untouched. Glue them to the pylon only once the model has been painted.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
