An injection-molded plastic kit of a richly decorated Japanese truck in 1:32 scale from the Japanese company Aoshima. It is a so-called dekotora (from the English decoration truck) — a truck adorned with chrome-plated stainless panels, lights, paintings and lettering, as we know it from Japanese trucking culture. The model is part of the well-known Aoshima range of decorated trucks, and besides the plastic parts the package holds decals and chrome-plated parts for capturing the decoration faithfully.
The dekotora is a Japanese phenomenon of long-haul trucks that their drivers decorate individually with brilliant polished stainless sheet, neon and colored lighting, airbrushed paintings and carvings. Every truck is unique and carries its own name; the decoration often refers to traditional Japanese motifs, to patriotism or to subjects from film and folklore. These trucks appeared above all from the 1970s onward and became a household word thanks to a film series about truck drivers.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife and glue them with thin liquid cement for plastic. Glue the chrome-plated parts so that the glossy surface is not damaged, ideally with a small amount of cyanoacrylate. It is a good idea to spray the body with an airbrush and coat it with gloss clear coat so that the typical polished look of a dekotora stands out. Leave the many decals and lettering until the end and coat them to even out the gloss.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
