NGA-08 Acrysion Gundam Assemble Color (Base Color) - Light Green Matt

The color

A light green with a matte surface from the Acrysion range, offered as a base shade for Gundam kits. A base shade is the one an area is laid in with: it is applied as a continuous coat over the whole part, and only then come the shadows, edges and transitions. A matte surface scatters light, so the shape of the part stays legible and the surroundings are not mirrored in it. On robot models, where large flat areas alternate with sharp edges, that is practical: a matte surface does not emphasize them more than is good for them.

How to work with the paint

Stir the contents thoroughly before use, as the pigment settles at the bottom. Wash and degrease the parts, as paint does not hold on a greasy surface and flakes off during handling. Apply it in several thin coats and let the surface set between them; one heavy coat flows into the engraved lines and wipes the detail away. Choose the thinner and the cleaning agent from the same range, as mixing them with the products of other ranges does not pay off.

Primer and finishing

Light green shades cover worse than dark ones, so lay the area in with a light primer first. On dark plastic the result looks muddy and you would have to apply so many coats that the edges would be lost. Under decals apply a gloss intermediate coat, otherwise a silvering haze will appear under the film; you then bring the matte look back with a final matte top coat. Before masking, let the paint dry properly and pull the tape away slowly and at an angle.

Terms of supply

The package contains the paint. The thinner, an airbrush, brushes and other aids are not part of it, unless stated otherwise. Work in a well-ventilated room and store the container carefully closed and out of the reach of children.
