An injection-molded plastic kit of the Russian nuclear missile submarine K-141 Kursk of the Oscar II class (SSGN in Western designation) in 1:350 scale from Hobby Boss. The model is a split full hull with a massive sail, finely engraved relief and blocks of tubes for anti-ship guided missiles that can be built in the open or the closed position. The set contains a stand, a nameplate and photo-etched extras. Thanks to the huge hull of the real boat the finished model is impressively long. The binding list of parts is given in the instructions in the box.
The Kursk was a giant nuclear missile submarine of the Oscar II class, designed to destroy large surface task forces with salvos of anti-ship guided missiles. She became widely known because of the tragedy of August 2000, when after an explosion on board she sank to the bottom of the Barents Sea and her entire crew was lost. The disaster and the rescue operation that followed became one of the best known events in the modern history of submarine fleets.
A smooth hull is the foundation — fill the seam between the upper and the lower part and sand it with respiratory protection. Decide whether you will build the missile tubes open or closed; open interiors benefit from a discreet wash. A primer, a uniform dark hull shade applied with an airbrush and only light weathering are recommended. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate and set the model on the supplied stand with its nameplate.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
