The real subject

The Messerschmitt Bf 109F, known among pilots as the Friedrich, is the aerodynamically cleaned-up version of the German fighter with rounded wingtips, a rounded rudder without struts and an inverted V12 engine. The cockpit is cramped and its glazing is divided into several panels, so the interior stays clearly visible on a finished model from the side as well as from above. That is exactly why it pays to give the cockpit equipment of this type more care than on aircraft with a small view in.

What the set contains

The set brings color three-dimensionally printed elements of cockpit equipment for the F-2 and F-4 versions in 1:48 scale and is tied to the kit from Eduard. The printing has raised relief, so the bezels of the instruments, the levers and the small controls stand proud of the surface and once applied do not look like printed paper.

How the elements are applied

The elements of the QD range are printed on backing decal paper and are applied like a decal. They have no adhesive layer of their own and hold on the gloss, so degrease the surfaces in the cockpit, paint them and coat them with gloss varnish (Future, Klear, Tamiya X-22). Leave the cut-out part in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slide it off the paper into place; on a broken-up shape cyanoacrylate glue helps. Do not use a decal softener, because it would attack the printed resin. Work with tweezers and a pointed toothpick.

Building and painting tips

You do not have to paint the elements, but it pays to darken the edges and the gaps around them so that the transition into the surrounding plastic does not show. Finish the cockpit before you close the fuselage.
