A photo-etched set for a model of the initial production Tiger I in its Africa configuration, 1:48 scale, from Voyager Model refines the details of the hull and the fittings that a plastic mold simplifies.

This item is an add-on photo-etched set, not a vehicle kit. It is meant to raise the detail of a plastic model of the German Tiger I heavy tank in its very first production form, in the fit used in North Africa, 1:48 scale. The metal parts replace plastic pieces that are oversized in a small scale and they add small things that cannot be made by injection molding. The maker is Voyager Model.
The Tiger I, in full the Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger Ausf. E, was a German heavy tank of the Second World War with an 88 mm gun. The vehicles of the first, so-called initial production series differed from later ones in several technical details - among them the form of the commander's cupola, the layout of the fittings on the hull and the solution of the fenders. The machines deployed in North Africa were additionally given modifications for operation in dusty conditions, above all extra filtration of the intake air mounted at the rear.
Separate the etched parts with a scalpel on a hard surface and bend them in a bending tool or over a metal ruler. Glue the metal with super glue, and use a gel version on larger areas. Degrease the metal before painting and coat it with a primer. With the Africa fit heavier dusting makes sense: the base shade, a filter to even the tone out and finally light dust pigments on the lower areas and the fenders. Assemble and paint the running gear before closing the hull up.
This is an accessory, not a kit. The base model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Check that it matches your kit before buying.
