AK Drill Bits Set 2 (AK Interactive)

A set of modeling micro drills from AK Interactive. It is not a kit but a tool. The set contains ten twist drill bits in a range of diameters from 0.5 to 3.0 mm. The bits are intended for a hand drill or a chuck with a matching grip; the holder or drill itself is not included in the package.

Use

• Drilling the muzzles of barrels, exhausts, tubes and holes for headlights.
• Preparing holes for wire antennas, cables, handrails and other accessories made of wire.
• Pilot drilling for pins, dowels and joints between parts when building from resin or from a 3D print.
• Lightening or cutting through solid plastic details that are meant to be hollow.
• Drilling into plastic, resin, soft metal and thin photo-etched parts, always by hand rather than at high speed.

How to work with them

• Mark the spot to be drilled with a point first, and the bit will then not slip on smooth plastic.
• Drill slowly, with steady and moderate pressure, and pull the bit out from time to time so that the chips are cleared.
• With the larger diameters, start with a thinner bit and widen the hole gradually, which reduces the risk of cracking the plastic and of breaking the bit.

Who it is for

For modelers who detail their models, from drilled-out barrel muzzles through antenna wires to reworked parts. It is also practical when building from resin and 3D prints, where parts are often joined on pins.

Bits of small diameter are very fragile and break easily when bent or levered, so guide them straight and do not press. The cutting edges are sharp and fragments can fly off: protect your eyes and keep the set out of the reach of children. A hand drill and a chuck are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
