A modeling material from the Polish maker Aber, not a kit. A sheet of thin photo-etched metal with regular hexagonal openings measuring 1.5 x 1.4 mm, that is with a honeycomb pattern. The usable area of the sheet without the surrounding frame is roughly 75 x 42 mm. Compared with the coarsest variant in the range the pattern is somewhat smaller, so it sits better on medium-sized areas, where the honeycomb is meant to be noticeable but not dominant.
Plan the orientation of the pattern in advance, because with honeycomb neighboring parts turned out of step show up markedly. Transfer the shape with a paper template, cut with sharp sheet-metal shears or with a scalpel on a glass support and level the edges with a fine file. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue applied in a trace layer around the perimeter; glue in the middle of the area floods the openings and the see-through effect disappears. Degrease the metal with alcohol before painting and apply a thin metal primer, then spray the paint from a greater distance in several light passes.
For modelers who want to replace blind plastic grilles with a breathable area with a faithful honeycomb pattern. The medium coarseness of the opening makes this variant a general-purpose choice where the coarsest honeycomb is already too conspicuous.
This is a modeling material, not a kit. The edges of cut metal are sharp, so work with care. Glue, paints and tools are not included in the package.
