Static grass from Heki in a summer shade, fiber length 10 mm, a 75 g package. The letters XL in the name refer to the fiber length: this is a material for tall growth, not for a lawn.

The summer shade in a scene

Summer green is steadier and warmer than spring green, closer to grass that has finished flowering and is beginning to yellow in sunlit places. Ten millimeters corresponds in 1:87 scale to growth around 87 cm tall, in 1:35 scale to roughly 35 cm, that is to knee-high grass. Growth like that belongs on field margins, at the edges of fields, on embankments and at the foot of fences and buildings, where a scythe cannot get.

Working with a long fiber

• Apply a thicker layer of glue and reckon on a more powerful applicator; short grass is less demanding.
• Lay the glue in irregular islands, so that tufts form and the soil stays visible between them.
• Stick the grounding clamp straight into the layer applied, otherwise the fibers will not stand up.
• You will create an uneven meadow by mixing islands of a drier or darker shade into the summer grass.
• Trim the tops of the tufts with scissors once dry; the growth will take on a more natural outline.

Who the material is for

For builders of dioramas and layouts who work in layers and want to get height into a scene. Tall grass will at the same time hide the transition between two surfaces or the edge of a base. A 75 g package will do even for a larger area, because the fibers that have not caught are tapped off once dry and used again.

The package holds static grass only. The glue, an applicator and a surface are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
