Colors and Markings of A-7B/E Corsair II, part 1, is a decal sheet in 1:48 scale for the Vought A-7 carrier attack aircraft in the A-7B and A-7E versions.
Responsibility details are not available.
This decal sheet from the American brand Furball Aero-Design opens a series devoted to the colors and markings of the Vought A-7 Corsair II carrier attack aircraft. It covers the A-7B and A-7E versions and offers ten complete sets of national markings and unit insignia. There are so many technical stencils and warning markings on the sheet that they are enough for two finished machines.
The Corsair II came about by shortening and lightening the airframe of the F-8 Crusader fighter for the role of an aircraft for precise bomb delivery. The US Navy sent it over Vietnam, and for its stocky silhouette the pilots gave it the nickname SLUF. The A-7B version received a more powerful powerplant, while the A-7E moved to a different type of jet engine and carried more advanced navigation and targeting equipment. The markings on the sheet match roughly the years 1973 to 1980, that is the era of the gray and white finish with brightly painted squadron rudders.
The surface under the decal must be glossy, or matte edges will appear around the film. Cut the artwork out close to the print, dip it in lukewarm water for only a few seconds and fine-tune its position with a soft brush. A decal softener will help the film settle into the engraved lines around the canopy and on the rounded sides of the fuselage.
