Pre-cut self-adhesive painting masks in 1:32 scale from Art Scale. This is neither a kit nor spare parts but an aid for painting: you apply the masks to the clear parts, they cover the transparent areas and leave only the canopy frame exposed, which you then spray along with the whole airframe. The single-sided version deals with the outside of the glazing, that is the side you see most on a finished model. It is the faster option for modelers who only need a clean frame from the outside. The masks are cut to the shape of the parts of a particular kit, so with a kit of a different origin you should test the fit first.
The Dornier Do 335 was a German fighter from the end of the Second World War. It was powered by two engines in tandem: one with a tractor propeller in the nose, the other in the rear fuselage with a pusher propeller behind the cruciform tail surfaces. This layout gave the aircraft the performance of a twin-engine machine while avoiding asymmetric thrust if one engine failed. The A-10 version is a two-seater with the second station set higher behind the pilot's cockpit, so it has longer and more complex glazing than the single-seat versions.
Before applying them, wash the clear parts in lukewarm soapy water and let them air-dry so that no greasy film is left on the surface. Lift the masks out of the sheet with the point of a scalpel and handle them with tweezers, not with your fingers. Once a mask is in place, press it down from the center outward and smooth the edge with a toothpick; a leaking edge is the most common cause of paint seeping under. Trim any piece that does not fit with a fresh blade right on the part. Cover the rest of the glazing and the surrounding area with masking tape. Apply the paint in thin coats perpendicular to the surface and spray the frames only after the interior and the primer coat. Lift the mask shortly after the paint has set, pulling it back over itself at an angle.
The masks are an aid for painting, not a kit or spare parts. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
