About product

The real subject

Without ground personnel no squadron would take off. A mechanic refilled the fuel and oxygen, checked the engine and the armament, filled the magazines and between flights repaired whatever the crew brought back damaged. Unlike a pilot he worked in work clothes, with a cap or without a head covering, and his stance tends to be a working one, not a representative one. The figure captures such a mechanic of the US Air Force from the time of the Korean War, that is, from the beginning of the 1950s, in 1:32 scale.

What the set contains

In the package there is one figure of a mechanic in 1:32 scale. In this scale even small detail of the clothing and the hands stands out, so the figure will find use directly beside a finished model. How many parts it consists of and how they fit together is given in the instructions enclosed by the manufacturer.

  • 1:32 scale
  • a figure of a US Air Force mechanic
  • the period of the Korean War, that is, the beginning of the 1950s
  • an accessory for an airfield scene or for a display case with a model of an aircraft
  • the composition of the figure is given in the manufacturer's instructions

Building and painting tips

Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder, so that the folds of the work clothing stay preserved. Before painting, wash and degrease the figure, as otherwise the paint does not hold. Work clothing will bear a dirtier rendering than a pilot's coverall, so with it light toning and emphasizing the folds with dry brushing pay off. Paint the face and hands before you seat the figure in a scene. Choose the kind of glue according to the material of the figure and the particular procedure according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Who it is for

The figure is for modelers who want to show the work on the ground alongside an aircraft and to give a scene action and scale. The package contains only the figure; a model, tools, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

The name gives one mechanic. The number of parts the figure consists of is given in the instructions enclosed by the manufacturer.

They are not. Only the figure is supplied; tools, a model and a base have to be obtained separately, unless stated otherwise.

With a model of an American aircraft in 1:32 scale from the beginning of the 1950s and with a figure of a pilot, with which it forms a scene of work on the apron.

Paint the washed and degreased figure first in the basic areas, then give the folds depth with a darker tone and enliven the edges with dry brushing.
