A set of precisely turned metal barrels for the Japanese 20 mm Type 99 Mark 2 aircraft cannon in 1:144 scale, containing four pieces. It is not an airplane model or a kit but aftermarket replacement parts that replace the plastic barrels with more faithful and more durable metal ones.
The Type 99 cannon was the standard Japanese aircraft weapon of the Second World War and was carried by a range of fighters. Turned metal barrels have a straight shape and an accurate muzzle, which even on a tiny model in 1:144 scale looks markedly more realistic than a soft plastic casting. The four pieces in the package cover multi-gun armament or several models.
The original plastic barrels are cut off, a fine hole is drilled on the axis in the wing or the fuselage and the metal barrels are glued in with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The metal is degreased before painting and treated with a base color.
The replacement parts are supplied on their own. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
